The United States Department of Agriculture is finally getting its act together after a lawsuit forced them to restore climate-related information on their websites. Apparently, farmers really need this stuff to deal with rising temperatures. Who knew?
Back in January, when President Trump took office, the USDA decided to hide any pages that talked about climate change. Yeah, because who needs to know about that, right? Well, a bunch of agriculture and environmental groups didn’t like that very much, so they took the USDA to court. And guess what? The USDA caved and promised to put all that climate info back online. Talk about a victory for the little guys!
The Northeast Organic Farming Association of New York, along with some other groups, sued the USDA to get them to publish pages about federal loans for farmers and a cool climate map. And you know what? The USDA actually listened. They filed a letter saying they would restore all the climate-change-related web content that they had taken down. It’s like a happy ending to a really weird story. Farmers must be breathing a sigh of relief right about now.
